My US Citizenship Is On The “Green Cards”!
Ask most people around the world where they would ideally like to live or work, and they will reply, “The United States of America”. It is a global belief that this is “the land of opportunity” and it is the place to make dreams come true. People from different countries across the globe have sought citizenship to settle here permanently. Therefore, you have a long queue of “green card” seekers waiting for the gateway to open, and give them entry into this paradise!
It was a certain group of pilgrims who were determined to discover a better way of life, who landed on these shores by accident. They crossed the Atlantic in the Mayflower. A Lebanese taxi driver I had the opportunity to meet in New York was one such winner - who participated in a pool that gave him automatic US citizenship! Not all countries are eligible to participate though. The aims and objectives of this program conducted by the USAIS is to ensure that sufficient migrants from unrepresented countries live and work in the US, thereby ensuring the diversity that the country has always been proud of.
Another bonus granted by the US is dual citizenship. Those who gain American citizenship are also allowed to retain citizenship of the places of their origin. Thus, they enjoy the best of both worlds! One who gains American citizenship is looked upon with awe by his fellowmen, as it signifies the topmost honor that anyone could receive in life! Whatever the case may be, there is no denying that the opportunities for working and improving one’s lifestyle are immense in the world’s largest economy. It is no wonder then that everyone wants to flock to these shores!
