Is Herbal Skin Treatment Right For You?

Since the early days of mankind, the topic of skin care and beauty has always been at the forefront, and herbal skin care is no exception.

New developments in skin care research have led to a trend of chemical and synthetic skin care products as opposed to the natural, herbal skin care treatments.

Due to these new technologies, natural skin care remedies that were once considered common place, have quickly become obsolete.

These changes run parallel to the way we live in our modern society. Due to our lack of time, the rapid pace of our lifestyles and the convenience of ready made products, it is easy to see why chemical skin care treatments have replaced herbal ones.

Even herbal skin care products have been commercialized. These commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home.

However, it seems that things are changing fast and more people are now opting for natural and herbal skin care routines.

Despite this movement, we as individuals still have no desire to create homemade herbal skin products, thus the commercial market is attempting to fill this void.

A perfect example of an herbal skin care treatment is Aloe Vera. It is an extract from the Aloe plant.

A natural moisturizer, aloe Vera is perfect for dealing with cuts and burned skin. A piece of freshly cut aloe plant releases aloe Vera which has an amazing power to refresh the skin.

In addition to Aloe, there are several herbs that are known as powerful cleansers. Dandelion, lime, rosemary and chamomile are excellent for such purposes. They are especially effective when used in combination with other herbs such as tea.

Finally, one must mention the antiseptic qualities of herbs. Effective herbal skin care is part of an overall process which includes herbs such as marigold, fennel, thyme and lavender for the maintenance of healthy skin tone.
