Russian Dolls Get Ideas for a Crazy New Product Set
The foundation of nesting dolls is widely known and the story of how the hand painted dolls spring into existence has been told numerous times. The hope of this article is to inspire some new artists with the ideas for a few great new products that hopefully they will bring to life. There has been a lot of work that has gone into the developmentof the ideas, let’s hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed putting them together.
My first idea is to develop a set of dolls around great TV families. Families that we grew up with, that are a little bit nostalgic but who would also be very recognizable are the types I am speaking about. I would start with the Brady Bunch and include the Mom and Dad, Alice and the 6 kids in one set. I think that would be a great seller and would serve to honor what is probably the number one family of that generation. The next family to be made into a doll set would be the Partridge family. I would include the manager to be sure that there were enough dolls to make a complete set. The Clampett family of Beverly Hillbillies would be next and I would include the banker and Miss Hathaway to round out the set.
I would then move to the greatest sports teams of all times. I would include a couple sets of Yankee teams with Babe Ruth, maybe another with the Boston Celtics when they were winning all those championships. Another set would be of the Big Red Machine, since many people in the Midwest would probably love that set and they are my favorite team of all-time. The Pittsburgh Steelers would also make a great doll set, tough guys as dolls kind of catches me off guard, however.
In order to honor inductees into the hall of fame for each sport each year, a doll set could be made featuring the former stars of their games. In addition to providing the modern sets of current inductees, historical sets could be developed that would be sure to bring back great memories of older teams. Players who are not in the hall of fame but who should likely be are also great candidates to be made into a doll set. Fans could vote for the favorite non hall of fame players by buying a doll featuring their likeness.
I think small individual groups could also be a great selling doll set. While at first appearing to be over the top, I think corporate executives might enjoy a nice way to reward themselves by having their smiling faces made into a doll set. While this idea may be pushing the envelope a little, I think there are countless opportunities to have individual doll sets made up of exact likenesses of familes, church teams and corporate executives that would be fun to make and fun to have as keepsakes. Keeping it light and poking some fun at other people may have better sales, however. There is a strong possibility that Wall Street firms and Enron doll sets would sell well to help people make fun of the trouble those firms have caused others in the recent past.
