Buying Used PS2 Games

by Gary Pearson

My son is something of a video game whiz and goes through titles very quickly. Even though I don’t let him sit in front of the television for too long or play with his PlayStation2 until all his homework and chores are done, he still manages to solve a game in a couple of weeks or less. It gets pretty expensive trying to keep up with my son’s skills, so I’ve been trying to buy used PS2 games whenever possible.

Trying to find used video games in the past was hard. If you wanted a new or popular title you may have had to wait a year or more before finding it secondhand. You could get the games new, but if your gamer burns through games in a few weeks or less who wants to pay $80 or more? And the places that sold used games were rarely in stock of anything good. Even the video rental places didn’t have the games anyone wanted because everyone rented them first.

Fortunately, the situation has improved dramatically. There is such a high demand for used PS2 games that stores reselling games have popped up everywhere. It’s easy to find the title you are looking for at a reasonable price. These games are usually in great condition but just in case most store usually have decent return policies if your title doesn’t work. If you can’t find a particular title you can try checking the inventories of online gaming stores, or even check Ebay to see if another gamer is auctioning it off. There is a huge variety of titles out there at great savings if you are willing to buy used PS2 games.

If worse comes to worse, I can always count on one of these websites to have a copy of the title that I’m interested in purchasing. Sometimes, I even make these websites my first stop for used PS2 games because they’re often cheaper online than at the local stores. I wouldn’t order from a website just to save a buck or two, but occasionally these used PS2 games go on sale on websites for almost 20 percent less than what I’d have to pay in stores. Now that’s a deal I can’t pass up!

Buying used PS2 games is a fantastic cost-effective alternative to spending $50 or more on the most popular titles of the season. So if you’re looking for a great way to save money on your video game habit, consider buying used PS2 games instead of new.
